Bayern coach Vincent Kompany explains importance of performance diagnostics

But why are the performance tests and physical examinations so important? “The pre-season tests provide good comparative values, good feedback on the level of performance,” Kompany explained. “In addition, there are always players coming back from injury, or players who are completely new to the team.”

“The tests and checks then allow us to take a deeper look at their health and physical performance,” said the Bayern coach. “We know them all as players, we know their careers, their history, but this is the only way we can also see what we may not have discovered yet.” The comparative values and results make it possible to “further develop the players individually and keep them as fit as possible,” Kompany added.
