The fourth season of the FC Bayern World Squad together with partner Audi gave 23 players from 14 countries a special chance, spending four weeks training under Roy Makaay and Diego Contento, getting to play in a Bayern jersey and moving one step closer to becoming a professional footballer. Follow their journeys with all eight episodes of the Class of ’24 documentary series.
Episode 1: The Game is on: First Steps on the Pitch
In Episode 1, head coach Roy Makaay welcomes the team to Säbener Straße and explains what will be important both in terms of the sporting but also the personal aspects. Last year's captain Gustavo Telles from Brazil is also back. Get to know his family and find out how he wants to achieve his goal of signing a professional contract with a top European club.
Episode 2: Meet the New Coaching Team
The FC Bayern World Squad complete their first training session under the new coaching duo of Roy Makaay and Diego Contento at the FC Bayern first team’s training ground at Säbener Straße. Afterwards, the players attend an FC Bayern basketball game together with the coaching and support staff, where they meet head coach Pablo Laso and FC Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund.
In episode 2 you'll also get to know former player and this year's assistant coach Contento as well as World Squad player Sebastian Dabrowski from Chicago, Illinois, and travel with the Class of ‘24 to Dabrowski's home country of the USA! The TST tournament starts in North Carolina in a few days, but who will make the squad and impress during the trip?
Episode 3: Playing Der Klassiker in the USA
The FC Bayern World Squad are about to take part in the TST tournament, including a match against Borussia Dortmund. For this version of Der Klassiker on the other side of the Atlantic, assistant coach Diego Contento steps away from the touchline and onto the pitch as a player. The youngsters also had some special encounters off the pitch, including meeting Sergio Aguero.
Episode 3 also takes you to Suwon in South Korea to meet defender Gyeong-Bin Mo and midfielder Minwoo Kim to find out what drives the pair and their goals for their time with the Class of ’24.
Episode 4: Stormy Showdown: Match vs. Inter Miami
The TST adventure is coming to an end - but there's no time to draw breath, because it's goodbye Cary and off to Miami. There, the FC Bayern World Squad not only face a match against Inter Miami, but also a severe storm that disrupts the game, training and travel schedule.
In the latest episode, you can also find out what the Class of '24 do in their free time in between football training, fitness sessions and games. Among other things, the lads compete in beer stein lifting and put their shooting skills to the test on the basketball court. And join defender Ignacio Isla on a visit to his home town of Santa Fe in Argentina, where he introduces his family and gives you a tour of the stadium of his home club, Unión de Santa Fe.
Episode 5: American Adventure: Soccer & Sightseeing from D.C. to NYC
In Episode 5, the FC Bayern World Squad continue their journey through the USA and go to Washington for a match at D.C. United. The boys use their free time in America’s capital for sightseeing: follow the team on their discovery tour from the Lincoln Memorial to the White House and the Washington Monument.
Then it’s back on the bus to New York, where a training session in Central Park, a gentle kickabout at the Bundesliga Common Ground and a visit to the FC Bayern office in the historic Rockefeller Center are on the itinerary. In this episode, you also get to know midfielder David Emmanuel better. Travel with him to his native Nigeria and find out how he trains and lives in Munich as part of the FC Bayern Global Academy.
Episode 6: Makaay and Kompany: Coach Meets Coach
The sixth episode of this year’s FC Bayern World Squad season begins in the heart of New York at the iconic Rockefeller Center before the team head back to Munich. But not every player can remain part of the Class of ‘24. Who has failed to win over the coaches and will be going home?
Back in Germany, the players visit the Audi Forum in Ingolstadt for an exclusive tour of the car production facility. They then return to Säbener Straße for an intense training regime. The highlight of this episode is the match against the U18s Tyrol XI, played in front of Austria’s picturesque mountain backdrop in Innsbruck. An exciting fixture where the team can again demonstrate their potential and talent.
Episode 7: Preparing for the Final Match
After an eventful first half, you now find out in Episode 7 how the FC Bayern World Squad's match against the U18 Tyrol XI turned out. Meanwhile, the players get a special visit at training as Audi stop by at Säbener Straße with a group of football-loving children and show off their skills to the big and small players in a joint 5-a-side game.
Another highlight is the World Squad's encounter with Nestroy Irankunda, who was recently signed for the FC Bayern U23 team. Plus, get to know the youngest player in the squad, the half-Brazilian, half-Portuguese Maycon Cardozo, and discover which ambitions the young talent has for his future. You'll also get an impression of the FC Bayern youth centre and follow how the team prepare themselves for the highlight of the journey, the match against the FC Bayern U19s.
Episode 8: The Crucial Match & Final Decisions
In the final episode of this year's World Squad documentary, it's all about the match between the Class of '24 and the FC Bayern Munich U19s. Follow the team in their final training session before the big game and see the highlights of the encounter. What will be the outcome of the fourth meeting between the two teams?
After the match, it's time for the final individual discussions between the coaching staff and the players. Find out who can look forward to a place in the Class of '25 and which players have hopes of a contract with the German record champions.
