Lovro Zvonarek joins Sturm Graz on loan

Lovro Zvonarek is joining Sturm Graz on a season-long loan. The 19-year-old attacker made his senior debut for Bayern in January this year and should now gain further match practice at Austria’s double winners.

Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director: “Lovro Zvonarek is a very exciting player who has everything he needs to hold his own in professional football. He was already captain in the Croatian first division in his home country at the age of 16, and at 19 he is already playing very mature football. We are convinced that he will take the next steps at Sturm Graz by gaining experience in the Bundesliga and Champions League. He has a strong character. We will closely follow his progress in the coming season from Munich.”

First senior goal for Bayern against Wolfsburg

Zvonarek joined FC Bayern in the summer of 2022 from Slaven Belupo in his native Croatia. After making his Bundesliga debut in January’s 3-2 win over Augsburg, the U21 international made four more appearances for the first team and scored his first senior goal for the club in a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena. He played 39 times for FC Bayern reserves (12 goals, seven assists). In May, he signed his first professional contract in Munich, valid until 30 June 2027.
