One step away from a medal! With the help of an assist from FC Bayern attacker Michael Olise, the French U23 side beat Argentina 1-0 on Friday evening to advance to the semi-finals at the Olympic Games. Including warm-up games, the 22-year-old new signing has now registered seven goal contributions (five goals, two assists) in his last seven international outings. Chapeau!

Egypt in semi-finals
Olise set up former Crystal Palace team-mate Jean-Philippe Mateta to nod in the winning goal from a corner after just five minutes. France continued to control the game with the lead, while the South Americans weren't able to make the most of their few chances. Olise thought he'd wrapped up the win for the host nation with a fierce shot in the 84th minute, but VAR disallowed the goal. And so it finished in a narrow but deserved win for Les Bleus.
Olise and Co now face Egypt in Lyon on Monday night (21:00 CEST). The North Africans beat Paraguay on penalties in their quarter-final tie.
Olise's new FC Bayern team-mates are currently on the Audi Summer Tour:
