As with the memorial to FC Bayern icon Gerd Müller, the Kurt Landauer Foundation has also commissioned a statue in honour of Franz Beckenbauer. Once again, the club will support with funding the initiative and has recently launched a special Kaiser collection in honour of this. The fan merchandise with the legendary number five and Beckenbauer’s likeness is now available for fans to buy in the online store. In addition, Joshua Kimmich and his teammates will wear pre-match jerseys with special printing on the chest for the warm-up before Saturday’s Bundesliga match against VfB Stuttgart, which will be auctioned off on FC Bayern’s auction platform together with the jerseys worn in the match. The proceeds from the sale of the Kaiser collection and the auctions will go to the Kurt Landauer Foundation.
Michael Diederich, FC Bayern deputy CEO and CFO: “We are delighted that the FC Bayern fans together with the Kurt Landauer Foundation are also erecting a memorial to Franz Beckenbauer to ensure that his memory remains visible, tangible and alive at our Allianz Arena forever. Our club is happy to support this sustainable initiative, and we want to make a contribution here with our Kaiser collection.”
The Kurt Landauer Foundation has organised its initiative under the motto Denk mal an Franz (Think of Franz). The plan is for the bronze statue of Beckenbauer to be erected on the esplanade in front of the Allianz Arena next to the monument to Gerd Müller.
