FC Bayern
The Victory Gate on Leopoldstrasse digitally dipped in the blue of the Panthers, the New York Statue of Liberty in the Allianz Arena tackled by a powerful Panther – while the NFL team from North Carolina is aggressive on social media and even claims that "Munich is Panthers city", the Giants from New York adopt a calmer tone. During a visit to the Munich Cowboys and a meeting with the members of the army base in Vilseck, the Giants showed great closeness to the fans. On Sunday in the Allianz Arena, however, the Giants will be at least as fired up as their opponents for the NFL Munich Game, when the two teams go head-to-head.
Both teams train at FC Bayern
While the Giants practised on Friday evening at Säbener Straße, where special field goals were set up on a training pitch, the Panthers prepared for the upcoming football match at the FC Bayern Campus in the north of the city. The Allianz Arena, the venue for the second visit of the National Football Association (NFL) to Munich, is completely sold out for the regular season game. Kick-off is at 15:30 CET on Sunday.
The NFL was previously a guest in the Bavarian state capital in November 2022, when the fans saw a 21-16 win for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Seattle Seahawks. Tom Brady, the most successful NFL quarterback of all time, lined up for the former champions from Tampa Bay, Florida.
Long way off play-offs
From a purely sporting point of view, the meeting between the Giants and the Panthers is not a huge game. Both teams have won just two of their nine matches this season, meaning the reaching of the play-offs is a distant hope for both.
The Panthers do come to Munich with a bit of momentum, though, having claimed their second victory of the season last weekend with a 23-22 against the New Orleans Saints. The Giants, on the other hand, have lost four on the trot.
Half-time show with US superstar
The half-time entertainment will be provided by US superstar Machine Gun Kelly. The 34-year-old is known to an audience of millions as a rapper, singer, songwriter and actor.
