FC Bayern with Red against Racism

As in previous years, FC Bayern will once again be represented with its Red against Racism initiative at this Sunday’s Giro di Monaco charity run organised by the Bellevue di Monaco cultural centre on Munich's Altstadtring (start at 11am). In 2024, president Herbert Hainer, Thomas Müller and basketball world champion Andreas Obst promoted the run for an open society, and FCB icon Paul Breitner gave a speech. This year, Steffen Hamann, basketball legend of the Red Giants, explained the reasons why FC Bayern regularly supports the campaign and calls for numerous participants: “We want to be part of Red against Racism as an entire club in order to stand up for an open-minded society. FC Bayern stands for diversity, and with this run, the whole of Munich is once again demonstrating what cohesion means.”

The club will again be taking part with employees and will also be represented with a Red against Racism stand in the start/finish area to once again raise awareness for a vibrant democracy and tolerant coexistence. Among other things, there will be FC Bayern's specially developed diversity quiz and a wheel of fortune on the initiative's social activities, as well as gifts with Red against Racism slogans. Participants from FC Bayern Basketball will also be recognisable with shirts from their #wecaretogether campaign. The champions of Germany would be delighted if as many members of the FC Bayern family as possible took part - either actively or as spectators.

“I already said this last year and I'm happy to repeat it: especially in this day and age, it's important to stand up for your values. And to stay with the image of this Giro di Monaco, that's not a sprint, but a marathon that requires staying power,” said Hainer. “FC Bayern will never run out of breath in its commitment to diversity and tolerance. You have to keep moving, and when you are active together, you make a difference.”

Mayor of Munich Dieter Reiter will be the patron of the fourth edition of the Giro and will give the starting signal on Sunday at 11am on Blumenstraße. The starting line-up will begin at 10.15am. Last year there were 10,000 people at the start. This year there is a record number of registrations. Anyone can take part, trained runners as well as walkers and families. There are no starting numbers or time measurements, it is all about a common sporting symbol for democracy. The course is five kilometres. There will be refreshment stands and a stage programme with surprise guests at the finish line. Motto: ‘We can only run together’. More information at https://giro-di-monaco.de/

FC Bayern offered around 70 members the exclusive opportunity to take the German Sports Badge earlier in May:
