What's next for FC Bayern after the Club World Cup

FC Bayern left their base camp in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday evening local time and set off for Germany. Vincent Kompany’s team had turned in a strong display in the Club World Cup quarter-final match against Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, but a 2-0 defeat meant elimination.

Start of pre-season at the end of July

The FC Bayern players will enjoy a well-deserved holiday after returning to Munich. FCB will be back for pre-season training at the end of July. “The lads get a three-week holiday. It’s important for them to switch off mentally and recharge their batteries. We want to take the next steps next season,” Kompany had said after the match against PSG in Atlanta.

Farewell for Thomas Müller

Club legend and record player Thomas Müller, who made his 756th and last competitive appearance for FC Bayern against Paris, will no longer be part of the squad. The players and officials said goodbye to Müller at the base camp in Orlando on Saturday evening.

Three friendlies

Munich will contest two friendlies before the first competitive match against VfB Stuttgart in the Franz-Beckenbauer-Supercup on Saturday 16 August at 20:30 CEST. The German champions take on Europe League winners Tottenham Hotspur at the Allianz Arena on Thursday 7 August (18:30) before facing Grasshopper Club Zurich at Letzigrund Stadium on 12 August (18:00). Both games will be shown live in Germany on FC Bayern TV Plus. The Telekom Cup against Tottenham will also be broadcast live and for free on MagentaTV/MagentaSport platforms.

Friendlies live on FC Bayern TV Plus

Just a few hours after the Bundesliga opener against RB Leipzig on Friday 22 August (20:30), FCB will take on a fan club in Tyrol. The friendly against Red Eagles Austria on Saturday 23 August will be broadcast for free from 15:00 on fcbayern.com, in the app and on the German record champions’ social media channels.
