Several FC Bayern players took top spots in the "Footballer of the Year" poll. Giulia Gwinn on 145 claimed the most votes, sharing first place with Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC) in the women’s category. Klara Bühl (52) comes third, Lea Schüller (39) fifth, with Pernille Harder (20) in ninth and Lena Oberdorf (10) in tenth place. A total of five FCB Women made it into the top ten.
Michael Olise on 81 votes comes second in the men’s category, with Thomas Müller (70) in fourth place, followed by Harry Kane (48), Jamal Musiala (43) and Joshua Kimmich (38). Leon Goretzka (6) too made it into the top ten. Florian Wirtz claimed the crown.
633 sports journalists took part in the poll carried out by sports magazine kicker. The deadline for the submissions was 28 July. The award exists since 1960, with Franz Beckenbauer the record holder on four titles.
