FC Bayern advisory board nominates president Herbert Hainer for third term

At its meeting on Friday evening, the FC Bayern München advisory board unanimously decided to nominate president Herbert Hainer for a third term of office. The board also nominated Professor Dr Dieter Mayer (senior vice-president) and Walter Mennekes (deputy vice-president) as candidates for their respective offices. The executive board election will take place during the Annual General Meeting on 2 November (starting at 10.30am) at the BMW Park. This year's AGM will be dedicated to the club's 125th anniversary with an exclusive programme for members.

Edmund Stoiber, advisory board chairman: “Herbert Hainer, Dieter Mayer and Walter Mennekes, with their professionalism and incredible identification with FC Bayern, are responsible for the club's positive development in recent years. The club is experiencing the largest membership growth in its history and, thanks to the executive board’s proximity to the fans, newly developed and established dialogue formats, and the family home that FC Bayern offers people, it has unique selling points that are unrivalled in international football. Added to this are sporting success, financial solidity and outstanding social commitment, such as the Red against Racism initiative. All this is represented by the current executive board under the excellent leadership of president and supervisory board chairman Hainer, whom the advisory board unanimously nominated for re-election today.”

Herbert Hainer, president: “I’m delighted and very grateful for the trust placed in me by our advisory board, led by chairman Dr Edmund Stoiber, and for the nomination, which I am happy to accept. Together with Dieter Mayer and Walter Mennekes, we would be honoured to serve the club for another three years as the executive board. It’s a personal honour for me to be part of this unique club, and I’m therefore happy to stand for election by the members. Together with my colleagues, our goal is to continue to grow together as a club. Everyone should feel at home at FC Bayern and be proud of this unique club. To this end, we have developed many formats in recent years that enable participation, engagement and exchange. We will continue to pursue this path consistently.”

Hainer was elected by club members at the 2019 Annual General Meeting as the successor to long-standing president Uli Hoeneß. He has been a member of the supervisory board since 2002 and has chaired it since his election as president. He was re-elected in his positions in 2022. Mayer and Mennekes have been supporting the club as vice-presidents since 2014 and 2016 respectively. Mayer also sits on the supervisory board of FC Bayern München AG.
