The city of Blumenau in southern Brazil marked the 40th anniversary of its Oktoberfest in style this year. With over 500,000 people expected to visit, it’s the second-largest Oktoberfest in the world, behind the original in Munich.
And amongst the crowds was Bayern legend Lúcio, proudly representing the club and the Bundesliga. The 2002 World Cup winner took time at the league’s stall to meet with fans, provide autographs and spread the spirit of this Brazilian-Bavarian crossover.
“I’m really grateful to get to represent Bayern and the Bundesliga here in Brazil. Bayern is a club with which I associate a wonderful time. I’m happy to remain part of its history and this project,” Lúcio said.

The former centre-back also featured on the country’s biggest podcast, Charla Podcast, and presented the hosts with Bayern shirts in a sign of the club’s growing popularity in the South American nation.
Football had to be a part of the visit as well, with Bayern’s Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund shown on the big screen in the food court area and providing fans with the day’s sporting highlight.
Lúcio was joined by several Brazilian influencers and content creators – many donning Bayern kits – to enjoy the game, including Brabo Gordinho, Goleiro de Capacete and Giuliana Araki.
And to cap it all off, Saturday set a new visitor record with 80,000 people going to Blumenau’s Oktoberfest in a single day. It was an impressive crowd where Bayern once again showed how important fans around the world are for the club.
