Shortly after 20:20 CEST, the FC Bayern squad took to the stage of the event hall at Nockherberg to the loud cheers of the numerous invited guests. A few hours earlier, FC Bayern had hoisted the Meisterschale for the 35th time after the 5-1 home victory over FC Köln at the Allianz Arena.
“I’d like to give the lads special praise,” said head coach Vincent Komany, who won his second championship title in his second year at FC Bayern: “What people often don’t really notice besides our matches at the stadium is the daily hard work behind such a success. I’d like to thank the lads for that, I think they deserve a round of extra applause.”
Celebrations in jungle atmosphere
To the cheers of the invited guests – including family, friends and staff – the team once again lifted the most important trophy in German club football, watched by a four-metre tall cockatoo, an enlarged version of the now familiar title mascot. The event hall was decorated in an impressive jungle theme – but soon was transformed into one big, collective, glittering celebration.
“Winning the championship title with a 16-point lead and a goal difference of +86 while advancing to the cup final and the Champions League semi-finals – that’s one side of the story,” said president Herbert Hainer: “The other side is the passion the team displayed and how many millions of fans they thrilled – that’s just magnificent!”

Honorary president Uli Hoeneß too was impressed: “We always entertained the fans at our own stadium – and that’s what it’s all about, we want to delight people. And this team has done that brilliantly!” CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen too was overjoyed: “What really impresses me is the teamwork between the coaching staff, the head coach and the squad. The way they stand up for one another, the fun they all have together, I think that’s the secret.” Together with board member for sport Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund, Dreesen and Hainer thanked not only the players, but also the FC Bayern coaches and staff: “This championship title belongs to every single one of us. Without all these contributions, we wouldn’t have achieved it together,” said Dreesen.

Cup final up next
Vincent Kompany also had words of thanks – mainly for his team: “The lads may not always do everything right,” said the Belgian: “But what’s decisive for me: the lads go full throttle every day.” The head coach promised that neither he nor the team had put the season behind them: “Thank you for your support, we’re celebrating the title tonight – and then we’ll move on,” said Kompany. Bayern take on VfB Stuttgart in the DFB Cup final in Berlin on 23 May.
