French professional footballers honour Michael Olise with special trophy
He's been thrilling fans at FC Bayern week in, week out, and has now been given a special honour in Paris: Michael Olise has been voted the best French footballer playing abroad by the French players’ union, the UNFP (Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels).
The 24-year-old beat off stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitiké, adding a special personal touch to what’s been an impressive season at FC Bayern, during which he played a key role in helping to clinch the Bundesliga title with four games to spare with goals and assists in the high double figures. On the red carpet in Paris, Olise posed for photos with his parents. On stage at the gala, dressed in a black suit, he gave a short speech and delivered a clear message: “My goal this season was to win everything with France and with FC Bayern. That’s al.”

The season isn’t over yet for Olise and FC Bayern: following Saturday’s final Bundesliga match against 1. FC Köln at the Allianz Arena, where the Meisterschale will be presented, the Munich side have the eagerly awaited cup final in Berlin on 23 May. After that, Olise will represent France at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
