FC Bayern commemorates victims of the Munich OEZ attack

FC Bayern laid a wreath in the club’s colours in memory of the victims of the racist attack on 22 July 2016 at the Olympia Shopping Centre (OEZ) in Munich. To mark the tenth anniversary, a memorial service was held at the ‘Für Euch’ (for you) memorial. It was organised jointly by the victims’ families and the City of Munich. Alongside the victims’ relatives, Germany's president Frank-Walter Steinmeier, state parliament president Ilse Aigner and Munich’s lord mayor Dominik Krause addressed the gathering.

Ten years ago, nine people lost their lives in the attack and a further five were injured. Eight of those killed were young people. All had either a migrant background or belonged to a minority group. The memorial bears the inscription: 'In memory of all the victims of the racist attack on 22 July 2016'.

By laying this wreath, FC Bayern wishes to express its sympathy to the bereaved and, within the framework of its ‘Red against Racism’ initiative, send a clear message opposing marginalisation, violence and all forms of misanthropy.
