Bara Sapoko Ndiaye has signed a professional contract with FC Bayern until 30 June 2031. The Senegal international, 18, moved to Munich on loan from Gambia in the winter and staked his claim for a permanent transfer with four competitive appearances in the second half of the season. Bara was trained at Gambinos Stars Africa, a football academy in Gambia that since 2023 has cooperated with Red&Gold Football, a joint venture between FC Bayern and Los Angeles Football Club.
Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director: “Bara is a great footballer, who’s found his feet in a completely new environment at FC Bayern in a very short space of time and earned the acceptance of the team very quickly. We’ve observed him for a long time, he was captain of his team, has made impressive progress over the last 24 months and built on that in Munich. As a central midfielder, Bara relies on his dynamism and speed on the ball, he’s an intelligent player and also brilliant off the pitch. He already speaks decent German and has integrated into our team within a very short time.”
Jochen Sauer, director of youth development and managing director of Red&Gold Football: “FC Bayern have been following Bara closely over recent years at a Red&Gold partner academy. He epitomises our long-term approach to development: offering top international talents an optimum environment for development in their home country, providing new stimuli at the right time through trial training sessions in Europe, giving them a platform and thus enabling them to make the step into professional football. Personally I’m pleased that we’ve gained an excellent character for the club in Bara, who will also be a very good ambassador for Red&Gold.”
Bara Ndiaye: “Today is a very big day for me and all my family. I want to learn every day from all these great players here at FC Bayern and try to help the team. It’s a dream come true for me, I’m very happy and I also want to be an example to other young players, like my team-mates at Gambinos Stars, that you can make it to one of the biggest teams in the world.”
Following his performances for FC Bayern last season, Bara was called up to Senegal’s World Cup squad and made one appearance at the tournament in Canada, Mexico and USA, where Senegal reached the round of 32.
