Three years of the FC Bayern awareness concept: 'OBACHT' with an even clearer design

FC Bayern remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a safe, respectful and discrimination-free stadium experience: three years after the launch of ‘OBACHT’ (‘watch out’), the club’s awareness concept, the design has now been comprehensively revised and further developed to make it even clearer and easier to understand.

Three years of experience and responsibility

For the past three years, OBACHT has been an integral part of FC Bayern’s home matches at the Allianz Arena. During this period, a wealth of experience has been gained, and feedback from fans and experts has been gathered and analysed. These insights have been incorporated into the further development of the concept.

What began as an initiative at the fans’ request has since been rolled out to other venues, such as the FC Bayern Campus and BMW Park. It was also adopted by UEFA, the European football governing body, for the 2024 European Championship.

The aim is to foster a strong culture of watching out for one another at all FC Bayern venues and to make attending home matches even safer and more inclusive.

On matchdays, the OBACHT team can also be contacted via the Allianz Arena app.

OBACHT – look out for one another, safeguard one another

In this FC Bayern initiative, the Bavarian term ‘OBACHT’ stands for looking out for one another, keeping an eye on one another, supporting and respecting one another – and ensuring that qualified help is on hand should anyone need it.

FC Bayern thus recognises that tackling transgressive and discriminatory behaviour must be an ever-present and and indispensable priority. OBACHT raises awareness: looking away is not an option; not looking away is a stance.

FC Bayern’s clear stance

Due to its history, its values and its social responsibility, FC Bayern takes a clear and unequivocal stand in favour of diversity, openness and tolerance. To this end, the German champions are committed to taking concrete action and launching initiatives to combat all forms of discrimination, most notably through their ‘Red against Racism’ initiative.

Spaces for everyone – at the Arena, BMW Park and the Campus

Everyone should feel comfortable and safe at FC Bayern’s match venues and club facilities. The club aims to create spaces for everyone and to foster a culture of being watchful.

OBACHT helps to ensure a safer stadium experience for everyone, irrespective of their background, religion, identity, sexual orientation or gender.

Working with the Südkurve and KIT München

FC Bayern developed OBACHT in collaboration with representatives from the Südkurve München (Munich South Stand) and the Fanprojekt München (Munich fan project), which is run by the non-profit organisation AWO München Stadt (Munich City Workers’ Welfare Association). This close collaboration with the fan community continues: the Südkurve remains an important partner in the further development of the concept to this day, contributing insights and experiences from the stands.

The KIT -München or Munich Crisis Intervention Team, run by the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (Workers' Samaritan Foundation), operates as the primary OBACHT team, carrying out awareness-raising work on matchdays, and is not bound by any instructions from the club.

The collaboration with KIT München has been further strengthened through the revised version of OBACHT: processes have been streamlined, responsibilities more clearly defined and the team’s visibility to visitors enhanced, not least through the new design and clearer communication materials.

Be watchful together – put OBACHT into practice

OBACHT is more than just a concept on paper or a sign in the Arena: it is lived attitude.

FC Bayern expects all visitors, club members, players, staff and supporters to embody this ethos as part of the club. Together, we can ensure that FC Bayern’s venues are places where everyone feels safe and respected.
