On Friday night (20:30 CEST), FC Bayern Munich welcome 1. FC Union Berlin to the Allianz Arena on Bundesliga Matchday 4. The situation for the Munich men shortly before the start of Oktoberfest looks particularly promising: in 14 Bundesliga encounters with the Eisernen to date, the German record champions are unbeaten (W9, D5). No other club in Bundesliga history has played against an opponent so often without ever losing.
FCB also came out on top in the DFB Cup round of 16 last season, winning 3-2 in Berlin. Now it’s about extending the positive record in the next clash ahead of the start of Oktoberfest, for which Bayern will be wearing their special Wiesn jersey.

It’s not just their record against Union that favours Bayern, but also the day of the week. The Bavarians have won each of their nine Bundesliga games on a Friday since a 2-2 draw at SC Freiburg in March 2024. Victory against Union would make it 10 consecutive Friday wins – and equal the Bundesliga record.
What’s more, the record champions have gone unbeaten in the first three league games of the season for a sixth successive Bundesliga campaign for the first time, with two wins and one draw to their name. They made an even better start last year, when Vincent Kompany’s side won their first nine league matches before Union became the first team to take points off Bayern in the 2-2 draw in Berlin.

The Berliners, in contrast, are still waiting for their first success of the campaign. One point from three matchdays represents the capital club’s poorest start to a top-flight season, and the first time they’ve failed to win any of their first three games.
