Uli Hoeneß and Harry Kane honoured at the Sport Bild Awards
A great honour for two outstanding figures at FC Bayern: Uli Hoeneß and Harry Kane were honoured on Monday evening at the prestigious Sport Bild Awards in Hamburg. In front of around 700 invited guests, including FCB president Herbert Hainer, honorary president Hoeneß accepted the ‘Legend Award’ for his lifetime achievement in person. Striker Harry Kane was named 'Football Star of the Year' and thanked the jury for the award in a video message

As a player, Hoeneß won the World Cup and the European Championship with the German national team. With FC Bayern, he won the European Cup and the German championship three times each, as well as the Intercontinental Cup and the DFB Cup once each. In 1979, at the age of just 27, Hoeneß took over as general manager at FC Bayern and, over the following decades, led the club to become one of the most successful in the world, both in sporting and financial terms. Between 2009 and 2014, and again between 2016 and 2019, he served as president of FC Bayern München e.V. and chairman of the supervisory board of the AG, and has been honorary president since 2019.
Last season, Kane scored 73 goals in a total of 65 competitive appearances for club and country, whilst also providing eight assists. This gave him the second-highest goals-per-game average in a single season in the 21st century – only Lionel Messi recorded a higher average in the 2011/12 season. His goals were instrumental in ensuring FC Bayern won the league title, the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup and the DFB Cup. Most recently, Kane was honoured with the Golden Shoe as last season’s top scorer in Europe and was also named Germany’s Footballer of the Year. This year, he is also regarded as one of the most promising candidates for the Best FIFA Men's Player award.
