This win will go down in history! From Prince William to David Beckham and Thomas Müller – personalities from all over the world congratulated Harry Kane on winning the Ballon d’Or. fcbayern.com has an overview:
William, Prince of Wales: “Congratulations to Harry Kane on winning the Ballon d’Or! What a fantastic achievement – and thoroughly deserved. A brilliant captain, an exceptional player and someone who has given football fans all over the world so many unforgettable moments.”
Markus Söder, Bavarian Minister-President: “A world-class striker is the world’s best footballer! Congratulations to Harry Kane on winning the Ballon d’Or. This is an outstanding award for what was an exceptional footballing year. If there was ever any doubt, Harry Kane is now a legend. With his scoring instinct, outstanding vision, commitment and touch, as well as his character, he inspires fans all over the world. But he doesn’t just shine through his own outstanding performances; he also helps his teammates to shine.”
Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel, Bundesliga CEOs: “Harry Kane is one of the outstanding players of his generation. He embodies an extraordinary commitment and exceptional ability, and continues to inspire millions of football fans time and time again – that is sporting and personal excellence.”
Thomas Tuchel, England coach: “The fact that you are the first Englishman in 25 years to receive this great honour makes it something truly special, and we are lucky to have you as our leader. I know you will enjoy this moment with your loved ones and then get back to doing what you do best – scoring goals and winning football matches.”
Matthias Sammer, 1996 German Ballon d’Or winner: “Harry Kane is a fantastic player – with the ball and without it. He’s dangerous in the box, but also outside it with long-range thunderbolts. He can also be deployed as a playmaker. He’s terrific. My personal line of thinking is that, given the World Cup takes place every four years, I might have associated the award with a World Cup winner or a Champions League winner possessing outstanding individual quality. I stand by that view. On the other hand, even without those major titles, Harry Kane has been so good that he certainly deserves it.”
