An action-packed afternoon at the Allianz Arena ended in dismay for Bayern as Bochum struck a shock late double to make off with an unlikely point.
A 69,000 full house saw an eventful first half with chances at both ends. Daniel van Buyten fired Munich into an early lead, but Sinan Kaloglu netted a not undeserved equaliser on the half-hour. The men in red reasserted control and Ze Roberto restored the advantage on the stroke of half-time.
Ze completed his brace with 20 minutes remaining as Munich assumed control in the second period, but the Ruhr Valley visitors never truly ran up the white flag and the match took a stunning late twist as Christoph Dabrowski and Dennis Grote struck within a minute to snatch a last-gasp draw.
Single change for champions
Bayern boss Jürgen Klinsmann made just one change to the team which drew with Lyon in midweek, restoring the fit-again Van Buyten at centre-half in place of young Breno.
That meant a first Bundesliga start of the season for Franck Ribery, and another run-out in defensive midfield for Martin Demichelis in place of out-of-sorts club captain Mark van Bommel.
