The FC Bayern Legends team was founded in the summer of 2006 to bind our former players more closely to the club and to make the FC Bayern brand better known at home and abroad. The star ensemble featuring Giovane Élber and Co. have been on the pitch under the name "FC Bayern Legends" since 2017.
The Legends squad consists of former FCB professionals, such as world champions Klaus Augenthaler, Bixente Lizarazu, Lothar Matthäus, Hans Pflügler, Jorginho, and Paulo Sérgio as well as the 2001 Champions League winners Giovane Élber, Owen Hargreaves, Alexander Zickler, Patrik Andersson and Carsten Jancker. The team have announced another well-known addition - Claudio Pizarro! The treble winner from the 2012/13 season is now part of the team and works as an ambassador for FC Bayern Munich.
On the road from Anfield to Sao Paulo
The Legends team have already caused great excitement over the past few years, at the games against Manchester United at Old Trafford and against Liverpool at Anfield. In addition, the former Bayern stars contested the highlight matches of our partners in Italy (Trentino) and Croatia (Istria). In 2019 the Legends visited the home of our Brazilians as part of the Hylo Legends Tour and spent several days in Sao Paulo. There they met Borussia Dortmund and FC Sao Paulo in the Legends Cup.
Élber is responsible for the FC Bayern Legends department. "It's always nice to meet old friends and be on the field with them in the FC Bayern jersey," said the Brazilian.
