FC Bayern mourn the loss of Cornelia Doll

FC Bayern mourn the loss of Cornelia 'Conny' Doll, who played for the women's team at the German record champions from 1971 to 1988 and who worked for the club in various roles after her playing career. It has now been announced that she passed away at the age of 63 after a long illness. The Giesing-born player played for the FC Bayern Women's team in five finals for the German championship and was part of the first title winning team in 1976. From 1987 to 1991, the four-time Germany international also coached the FC Bayern Women's team including in the newly founded Bundesliga from 1990.

Herbert Hainer, president of FC Bayern: "Our women's section looks back at over 50 years full of personalities and pioneers – and Cornelia Doll was one of them. She grew up in Giesing and was at home at FC Bayern: She helped to write history. Our thoughts are with her family and friends."

Karin Danner, general manager of the FC Bayern women's team: "Conny Doll was an outstanding player and a rock in our defence – you could always rely on her. And later as a coach, she gave everything for FC Bayern wholeheartedly and with passion and thereby made a great contribution to the FC Bayern Women’s section. We will miss her."
