Cheeky, cheeky, Lina Magull. As most of the people at the stadium reckoned on a cross, the 27-year-old FC Bayern Women's team striker plucked up the courage and simply curled the ball into the net at the near post. The direct free-kick by the Germany international to make it 3-0 against SC Sand (4-0) was deemed to be unstoppable and also went down really well with the supporters of the record champions. They voted it FC Bayern February Goal of the Month.
First for Magull
Magull received 26% of the votes cast to become the first player from the FCB Women's team to secure the coveted trophy. A close second was Leroy Sané’s winner in the 1-0 victory in the Bundesliga match at Eintracht Frankfurt (24.3%), Robert Lewandowski (23.6%) was in third place with his impressive opening goal in the 4-2 defeat at Bochum.
Carry on scoring
Following the award in February, the trick-shot artist Magull and her teammates now go into a crucial phase in the spring. Before the domestic double against VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga (3 April) and the DFB Cup semi-final (17 April), there is the big match against Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League (22/30 March). The first leg will also be the first time that the FCB Women have played a competitive match at the Allianz Arena. That would probably be the perfect stage for another wonder goal from Lina Magull.
