Alexander Straus is the new FC Bayern Women head coach

The FC Bayern Munich Women have a new head coach. 46-year-old Norwegian Alexander Straus arrives from Norwegian champions Sandviken TF / SK Brann, where he led the team to the title in 2021 for the first time in the club's history. The new Munich head coach will start his pre-season training on 18 July at the FC Bayern Campus.

Head of the women's section Karin Danner: "We're very happy Alexander Straus is coming to FC Bayern. He brings with him many years of experience at the highest level. Alexander has proved he's able to develop players and teams. For us and for our new head coach, this will be a new start that offers a great opportunity."

Sporting director Bianca Rech: "Alexander Straus is a very ambitious coach and a perfect fit to FC Bayern with his idea of playing football. With an international perspective and experience from a wide variety of areas, we will be able to continue our development with him."

Head coach Alexander Straus: "I can't wait for my time as head coach at FC Bayern to begin and I'm really looking forward to starting training. As part of a big club like FC Bayern, our goal must always be to win every competition we enter. We have a team with very good players and I have the greatest respect for the work that previous coach Jens Scheuer and his staff did here. I certainly won't turn everything upside down, but will try to develop the team step by step."

On the way to a historic first title, Straus won 17 of 18 games with Sandviken/Brann and drew the other - that was a national record. The new Munich coach can look back on extensive experience in professional football, in both men's and women's divisions. He was head coach of the Norwegian U23 and U19 women's national teams for several years, as well as assistant coach of the male first division club, league runners-up and Europa League participants Strømsgodset TF, and head coach of the men's second division club Nest-Sotra IL.
