Reception for Germany Women's EURO players at FC Bayern Campus

Hainer, Kahn & Salihamidžić honour EURO heroes & Copa winner

FC Bayern Women’s EURO heroes and Copa America winner were duly recognised for their great achievements at the Allianz Arena on Sunday. Ahead of the men’s opening home match against VfL Wolfsburg, president Herbert Hainer, CEO Oliver Kahn and board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić congratulated the eight Munich girls for their recent international feats: England’s EURO winner Georgia Stanway, Germany’s finalists Lina Magull, Giulia Gwinn, Lea Schüller, Sydney Lohmann, Linda Dallmann and Klara Bühl, plus Brazilian new signing and Copa America winner Tainara de Souza da Silva. Schüller was also recently named German Women’s Footballer of the Year, while Bühl and Gwinn were selected in the official Team of the Tournament at the EURO in England. Against Barcelona at AMOS Women’s French Cup

The eight Bayern players only joined up with the rest of the FCB Women squad a few days ago and headed straight to the pre-season training camp in Italy, where they recorded a 2-0 friendly win over Italian top-flight club U.S. Sassuolo Calcio on Friday evening. On Monday, new head coach Alexander Straus’ side already move on to the AMOS Women’s French Cup, where they take on the mighty FC Barcelona on Tuesday before contesting either the final or the third-place play-off against Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain on Friday. Bayern Women play their final pre-season friendly on 26 August (kick-off 13:30 CEST) against Atlético Madrid at the FC Bayern Campus.

First home match against Werder

Their opening competitive match of the season is in the second round of the DFB Cup on 9/10/11 September (opponents, date and venue still to be confirmed) having received a bye in the first round. The league campaign then kicks off on 16 September away to Eintracht Frankfurt, followed by the first home match at the FC Bayern Campus on 25 September against Werder Bremen (kick-off 13:00 CEST, tickets here).
