Bayern Women to host Barcelona at the Allianz Arena

As president Herbert Hainer announced in his speech at the annual general meeting on Saturday, the FC Bayern Women will play their UEFA Women’s Champions League home game against Barcelona on 7 December at the Allianz Arena. It will be the second time the Women have played there, after the quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain in March of last season.

Hainer: “FCB Women have continuously progressed”

FC Bayern president Hainer: “The FC Bayern Women have continuously progressed over the years, and our stated goal is to establish ourselves at the top domestically and in Europe. The game against Barcelona - last season’s finalists and 2021 winners – will be a clash at a top international level, and our Allianz Arena provides the appropriate stage for that.”

Rech: “A real highlight”

After the first milestone in March when we made our debut at the Allianz Arena against Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals, we’re now looking forward to our next chance to play on the big stage,” said FCB Women’s sporting director Bianca Rech. “The Champions League game against Barcelona will be a real highlight – both for our players and our fans.”

Women in Group D

After coming through qualifying against Real Sociedad, Bayern were placed into Group D in the Champions League alongside Barcelona, Rosengard and Benfica. The Women begin their campaign next Wednesday at the FC Bayern Campus against Rosengard of Sweden. The game away at Barcelona on 24 November will be played at the Camp Nou.
