FC Bayern Women have signed Tuva Hansen from Norwegian champions SK Brann Kvinner. The 25-year-old defender has agreed a contract running till 2026 and will arrive in the New Year. "I want to play a lot and win trophies, that's why I'm here. I can't wait to become part of FC Bayern and create memories," said the Norway international on her move.
"We can achieve a lot here“
In November, Hansen celebrated winning the championship in Norway's top flight, the Toppserien, as captain of the SK Brann Women. In the new year, the full-back will start a new chapter and go on the attack with FCB Women in various competitions. "FC Bayern is a big club where I see many opportunities. I always want to win. I think we can achieve a lot here," said the Norwegian.
Bolstering the defence
Bianca Rech, FC Bayern Women sporting director, underlined the importance of the new signing: "Due to the injury situation we're facing at the moment, it's important for us to bolster our defence once again. Tuva is a player who is an absolute leader, as she's shown both at her previous club and in the Norwegian national team. She's a player with a lot of quality and we're delighted we were able to attract Tuva to FC Bayern."
Hansen is a flexible defender and can play on the right as well as on the left side of defence. The Norwegian knows about her abilities: "On the pitch, I'm combative and fast and I communicate a lot. Off the pitch I have a lot of positive energy and I feel I can make something of a team."
Continuity through long-term contracts
Following the contract extensions with top striker Lea Schüller and vice-captain Sarah Zadrazil, signing Tuva Hansen is the next important step: "It's important for us to continue to create continuity and to agree long-term contracts with players. The players should commit to the club so we can go forward together. Of course, the contract extensions of the last few weeks have been extremely important for this," Rech said.
Before Tuva Hansen joins the team in January, the FC Bayern Women will host Barcelona at the Allianz Arena on 7 December:
