Exceptional striker to stay in Munich: Lea Schüller agrees long-term contract extension which will keep her at FC Bayern until 2026.
"A lot you can achieve with FC Bayern"
Since her move from SGS Essen to FC Bayern in 2020, Lea Schüller has scored 53 goals in 74 appearances and, in addition to the 2021 domestic championship, has also celebrated personal success as the 2021/2022 top scorer and Women's Footballer of the Year. The Germany international still has many goals with FCB: "I believe we've achieved something in the last two years, but I also believe we can achieve much more. I'd like to achieve that together with FC Bayern, including, of course winning the championship as well as the DFB Cup and going as far as we can in the Champions League. For me personally, I'd like to be top scorer again. There's a lot you can achieve with FC Bayern," said the 24-year-old, who has now agreed a three-year contract with FCB for the second time.
An important step
FC Bayern Women sporting director Bianca Rec underlined the importance of the contract extension: "The last two years with Lea have given us a lot of joy. She showed in impressive fashion last season why she plays for FC Bayern. Lea is an exceptional striker, her strength in the air sets her apart. It's been our big goal to tie her to FC Bayern for the long term."
Exceptional bond in the team
A crucial factor for the contract extension on both sides was the bond the team has: "The team have been outstanding for the last two years and I just feel really at home. It's like a surrogate family here in Munich," said Schüller. Rech also affirmed: "It's important for us to keep the team together. We need continuity to be successful. The contract extension with Lea is a piece of the puzzle and an important step."
