It's the next strong sign by the FC Bayern Women: On the heels of Lea Schüller, vice-captain Sarah Zadrazil has also agreed a contract extension with Bayern Munich until 2026.

Zadrazil: "Give my all for the team"

Zadrazil moved from Turbine Potsdam to Munich in 2020 and the Austria international is now in her third season at FCB, where she's once again vice-captain alongside teammate Lina Magull. The contract extension was a no-brainer for the 29-year-old: "I'm just happy that I can continue to be a part of this team and this club. On the one hand, I believe we still have a lot of potential in terms of sport and high aspirations that we want to achieve. On the other hand, I just feel really at home in Munich. The girls and our team spirit are unique and Munich has become my second home, so it was obvious to me that I would like to stay even longer."

A clear signal

FC Bayern Women's sporting director Bianca Rech knows the midfielder's strengths: "Sarah has shown in the last two years at FC Bayern how important she is for this team. She's the midfield dynamo for us, especially in a defensive role, and that's what sets her apart. She's very important for us in the team." For FCB, the contract extension is the next important step: "Of course, this is also a clear external signal that we want to continue, have even more success and are hungry for this success. To do that, it's important to continue to attract mainstays like Sarah Zadrazil to FC Bayern," says Rech.

"The team makes it very easy for me"

Sarah Zadrazil won the German championship with FC Bayern in her very first season. As vice-captain, she plays an important role within the team: "I'm a kind of worker bee, I just give my all for the team, whether it's on or off the pitch. The team makes it very easy for me, I want to continue to shoulder responsibility. I already have a lot of experience now, both with the national team and with FC Bayern and in the Bundesliga. I want to do my best to achieve our goals with the team."

The next highlight is coming soon: on 7 December at the Allianz Arena against Barcelona.
