FC Bayern Munich’s women’s team can look forward to a record crowd for Wednesday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League home match against FC Barcelona. Ticket sales for the meeting at the Allianz Arena, which kicks off at 21:00 CET, passed the 20,000-mark at the weekend. The club’s current record attendance for a women’s match stands at 13,000 for the UWCL quarter-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain in March of this year, which was also staged at the Allianz Arena.
Hainer: Fans will give a boost
Herbert Hainer, president: “With this record attendance, our women’s footballers are writing another chapter in their success story. We’re very pleased about the huge response from the fans, which our players absolutely deserve with their performances. The fans will give them an extra boost. Barcelona are regarded by many as the best women’s team in the world at the moment - anyone coming to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday will see a top match at the highest level.”
Tickets are still available here from €10.
FC Bayern Museum with special activities
Appropriately, the FC Bayern Museum is also opening its doors from 19:00 and is running various activities related to women’s football. While a journey through the history of FC Bayern is always interesting, the focus will be on women on this Advent evening. As part of the ‘Matchday Special’ programme, visitors have the one-off opportunity to meet a player from the women’s team. There’ll also be special tours on the 50-year history of the women’s department at FC Bayern.
