Klara Bühl: We're all proud of each other

"FC Bayern forever number one" rang out in the FC Bayern Women dressing room after the final whistle, and the players sang along loudly. The joy and pride over the 1-0 win in the top-of-the-table clash against VfL Wolfsburg, which saw Bayern capture first place in the table, were clear to see among the coaches and players. "We're all proud of each other and the whole team," summarised Klara Bühl. However, as goalscorer Georgia Stanway said, the Munich girls are already looking ahead: "Now we're the leaders and the pressure is on us. That means we have to carry on in exactly the same way and can't afford to go down a gear." fcbayern.com rounds up the rest of the reaction:

Herbert Hainer (president): "Credit to our team for this magnificent performance and important win. They thoroughly deserve to be top of the table. Now it's about capitalising on this lead. We've always said our objective is the title, and that was an important step. The win certainly also gives an extra boost for the second leg at Arenal, where we start in a good position. We're proud of our players, who have had a perfect week. More of the same!"

Alexander Straus: "Today's game was the best advert for German women's football. Both teams played at a very high level. In the end we deserved to win because we had better control of the game. It's a very important win for us. We've been pursuing Wolfsburg all season and in recent years too, so it's a very important success for us. I'm sure Wolfsburg will fight us for first place with everything they've got in the remaining matches."

Lina Magull: "It's a highly significant win for us. Firstly because we've lost the recent meetings against Wolfsburg, and secondly because the title race is all in our hands again. It's always very emotionally charged against Wolfsburg because it's the two best teams in Germany up against each other. Today we deserved to win and we played the better football, so we're pleased and take away a positive feeling."

Georgia Stanway: "We produced a very good performance today and got the reward with the win. Now we're the leaders and the pressure is on us. That means we have to carry on in exactly the same way and can't afford to go down a gear. We have a very good balance between attack and defence right now, which was apparent again today. We have to maintain that."

Klara Bühl: "Obviously the win gives us confidence because it's not every day that you beat Wolfsburg, but we worked hard for it. We're all proud of each other and the whole team. We played with a lot of courage and confidence from the beginning today, which benefited our play. We dominated the game and had a lot of possession. We managed to make good use of the spaces that Wolfsburg offered us, which we're really pleased with. Nevertheless, we've not achieved anything yet. Now we're the hunted and we've got to get the three points every weekend in order to be top at the end of the season."

Reaction from the Wolfsburg camp

Tommy Stroot (VfL Wolfsburg coach): "Congratulations to FC Bayern. We struggled to get into the game at the start. A Bayern lead at half-time would've been fair, but we worked our way into the game really well and had a few good chances after that. Then the game obviously takes a bitter turn for us. But it is what it is - now we're the hunters."
