Alexander Straus: It means everything to me

Unconfined joy and pride for FC Bayern Women after the Frauen sealed the 2023 German championship! "It means everything to me. It's what you work for every day. It was a difficult process, but I'm so proud of the team," said a delighted coach Alexander Straus after the thumping 11-1 victory over Turbine Potsdam on the final matchday. President Herbert Hainer and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen also congratulated the team on the title. "Congratulations on FC Bayern Women's fifth German championship overall and for rounding it off with a title-winning 11-1 victory," said Hainer. fcbayern.com summarises the reaction:

Herbert Hainer, FC Bayern president: "Congratulations on FC Bayern Women's fifth German championship overall and for rounding it off with a title-winning 11-1 victory. After the success of the men, we celebrate a Bavarian double of a special kind. Congratulations to coach Alexander Straus, his staff, the players as well as the sporting management, Karin Danner and Bianca Rech. Our women are doing a great job, and they're also real role models off the pitch, wonderful ambassadors for FC Bayern. I'm especially happy for Karin Danner: the title is a fitting farewell gift at the end of her extraordinary career with us."

Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern CEO: "What a weekend for FC Bayern and our fans! After the men, the women are also celebrating the German championship - congratulations. We're all very happy about the progress made by FC Bayern Women, and we'll continue on this path. A heartfelt thank you goes to Karin Danner on behalf of the team - she gets to say goodbye with the championship trophy and absolutely deserves it."

Karin Danner, FC Bayern Women head of section: "Of course I'm totally happy, it couldn't have been more wonderful. The weekend started dramatically, it was a bit more relaxed for us today. The girls promised me they'd say goodbye with a title. It's a great honour for me. It's a red-and-white weekend, the crowning glory for the men and for the women. Bayern Munich is fully behind the women's section as a club."

Alexander Straus: "It means everything to me. It's what you work for every day. It's been a difficult process, but I'm so proud of the team. I love this club. It took us a little while to get everyone to embrace the philosophy. I was always convinced, we have great players. Now we're enjoying it."

Klara Bühl: "It's been a year of hard work. You go to the training ground every day to experience something like this. The early goal did us good today. Then we were unstoppable. It was fun, it was unbelievable what was going on here today. We deserved it. It's just a super feeling. We feel an insane appreciation from the club but also from all the fans. We're looking forward to the Town Hall balcony now, it's going to be a moment in life you don't forget."
