FC Bayern Women and Allianz set an example

As part of FC Bayern Women's Bundesliga debut at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, the club will be sending out clear messages for breast cancer prevention together with partner Allianz. To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the stadium will be illuminated in special pink lighting after the match against Eintracht Frankfurt, and Bayern will also be wearing a special jersey.

Herbert Hainer, FC Bayern president: "Together with our partner Allianz, we at FC Bayern want to raise awareness of the important topic of breast cancer prevention. Detecting breast cancer at an early stage is the first step towards treatment. Education and prevention do a lot to reduce the impact of the disease. That's why it's important for us to raise awareness of screening – for women as well as men."

Nina Klingspor, CEO of Allianz Private Health Insurance: "The chances of detecting a malignant change early are better today than ever before. And thanks to modern therapies, breast cancer is curable in many cases. I would like to urge everyone to get informed and take advantage of the screening services."

As FC Bayern Women's jersey sponsor, Allianz will change the colour of its logo on the chest to pink and add a ribbon, the international symbol in the fight against breast cancer. According to estimates by the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin, around 70,000 women and 770 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Germany alone.
