Magdalena Eriksson suffered a broken metatarsal in her left foot in Thursday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League encounter with Ajax. The 30-year-old Swede, who had scored three goals in the last three games for Bayern, underwent an operation on Friday morning. The centre-back will be sidelined for a number of weeks.
After Monday’s news that Klara Bühl is also out with a muscular injury, it is yet another setback in quick succession for head coach Alexander Straus. Die Frauen have two more games to play before the winter break, taking on Nürnberg in the Bundesliga on Sunday (18:30 CET) before the return leg at home to Ajax next Wednesday (18:45).
