5 facts on Bundesliga game away at Bayer Leverkusen

There are only three games left in the 2023/24 Google Pixel Bundesliga season for FC Bayern Women, who now take on sixth-placed Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. Find out here how the Munich ladies can secure the title in Leverkusen and what new record Georgia Stanway and Jovana Damnjanovic could set.

1. Chance to complete title defence

If Bayern equal or better the result of second-placed Wolfsburg against Köln on Friday, then they will once again be champions of Germany. With three games to go, the advantage is seven points. Getting over the line would see Bayern lift their sixth league title in women’s football and be the second time they’d defended their crown, after 2014/15 and 2015/16.

2. Connect Four

Damnjanovic and Stanway have both scored in each of the last three games and now have the chance to become the first players this Bundesliga campaign to net in four consecutive matches. The pair both actually scored from the halfway line in the most recent 3-0 win over Werder Bremen.

Jovana Damnjanovic scored from almost her own half to make it 2-0 against Bremen.

3. Promising record

Bayern are unbeaten in their last eight Bundesliga meetings with Leverkusen, earning 22 of a possible 24 points in that time with seven wins and a draw. Seven of those eight encounters have in fact also been clean sheets for the Munich ladies.

4. Bayern see it out

Alexander Straus’s team have proven adept at game management, winning 16 of the last 18 Bundesliga fixtures in which they have taken the lead. The other two games ended in draws.

5. Attacking collective on both sides
