FC Bayern Women’s No.7 is now staying to 2027 after Giulia Gwinn signed a contract extension through to 30 June 2027. The Germany international first moved to Munich in 2019 and has won three Bundesliga titles with the club.
Gwinn: “Bayern is my home”
The decision to remain in Munich at the club she loves was an easy one for Gwinn: “Bayern has become my home, and I’m very happy that I get to be here in the coming years as well. I didn’t have to think long. I feel incredibly at home here and think this is the place where I can continue to develop the most and in the most authentic way. I’m in a great environment where the work every day gives me everything I need.”
FC Bayern Women director Bianca Rech is also looking forward to at least three more years with the defender: “This extension is another milestone for us. Giulia is an important player and one of the faces of FC Bayern Women, so it’s a big step for us to extend her contract.”

Ambitious goals ahead
After battling back from two cruciate ligament tears, Gwinn is now looking in particular to remaining free from injury, and the 25-year-old has big plans at the club. “The biggest goal is to remain fit and healthy, so I can help the team on the pitch for a long time. I believe we can achieve something on the European stage in the coming years. We’re in a very good place domestically, which we obviously want to back up each year. We obviously want to be back there again next year after the DFB Cup final loss and claim the title for us. Big things are possible with our team.”
Rech: “Retain the core of the team”
Following recent extensions with head coach Alexander Straus, Sydney Lohmann and Linda Sembrant, Gwinn’s new deal means another key player is staying in Munich. “We want to retain the core of the team. That’s really important to continue to have success in the future. Giulia’s an important element of that,” said Rech.
Before Gwinn and her Bayern teammates can focus on the coming season, she will be in action for Germany at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Straus and his team will then head to Tyrol for a training camp before kicking off 2024/25 with the Supercup against Wolfsburg on 25 August.
