First FC Bayern Women documentary: 'More than 90 minutes - presented by Allianz'

FC Bayern, in cooperation with Allianz, the main partner of FC Bayern Women, is releasing its first in-depth documentary about the record champions’ women's team. Captain Glódís Viggósdóttir, Giulia Gwinn and Pernille Harder were accompanied on well over 100 days of filming in the 2023/24 season for More than 90 minutes - presented by Allianz. The result: a six-part documentary series with episodes lasting 30 to 40 minutes each, selected from over 300 hours of film material. The first episode will premiere on Thursday 12 September at 16:00 CET on fcbayern.com and FC Bayern's YouTube channel. Fans can also look forward to further exclusive content on the Allianz x FC Bayern Hub (allianz.com/fcbayern).

Bianca Rech, Director of FC Bayern Women: “We are delighted that this documentary has been realised. We take the fans on an exciting journey with highs and lows, right up to our title defence in the Bundesliga. Viewers will experience first-hand how our team functions, how we work together and how women's football at FC Bayern is constantly evolving.”

Stefan Mennerich, Director of Media & Communications at FC Bayern: “Following two documentary series about our men’s team, we are now shining the spotlight on our women’s side with this documentary. Victories, defeats, lots of interpersonal stories, disappointments and triumphs – these insights into the inner life of FC Bayern Women have never been seen before. For the FC Bayern media division, this is the next milestone in the production and showing of our own content.”

Daniela Bauer, Global Head of Partnerships, Allianz SE: “Together with FC Bayern Women, we are looking forward to the many exciting insights and moments behind the scenes, and are proud to be a part of this journey with the Ready Coach programme.”

The documentary offers direct insights into the inner workings of the women's team as well as numerous emotional moments in the lives of coaches and players. It tells the story of a season of highs and lows, successes such as the away win against long-time rivals VfL Wolfsburg and setbacks such as elimination in the Champions League. The winter training camp in Alicante, Spain marked the turning point and the Munich girls fought back impressively. In the end, they finished the Bundesliga season unbeaten as champions and celebrated in front of thousands of fans on Munich's town hall balcony.

The documentary was produced by the production company Hertz & Kopf with director Björn Lentföhr, on behalf of and in close cooperation with FC Bayern's media division. The project was managed by Nikolai Kube, Head of Club Media & Content, Lukas Strickner, Head of Video, and video producer Bianca Preysing. In addition to covering every competitive match of the season and trips abroad to Paris, Rome, Amsterdam and Alicante, the programme included over a dozen private shoots with players – in a tattoo studio, in the club's own coffee roastery, at an animal shelter or at university.

Allianz has accompanied the success story of FC Bayern Women as a main partner since 2013 and is more than just an important part of the Bayern family. Allianz also focuses on topics that are often defined as off-field issues and are now addressed in the documentary. With its Allianz Ready Coach mentoring programme, Allianz supports FC Bayern Women with issues that go beyond sport.
