Following on from a successful weekend with a 4-0 win away at Werder Bremen, FC Bayern Women’s players, coaches and bosses got to enjoy a visit to Oktoberfest on Monday. The Bundesliga champions were invited by Paulaner.
The squad arrived at Theresienwiese in traditional Bavarian attire to spend time as a team before moving into the next important and intense period of the season with the start of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Head coach Alexander Straus expressed his enthusiasm for the team outing: “After the hard training sessions and lots of travelling, we were looking forward to this day.” Georgia Stanway added: “It’s part of the culture and what it’s about living here in Bavaria.”
In a mix of rain and sunshine, the Munich Frauen spent the afternoon in the tent of beer partner Paulaner in a great mood. “After the win against Bremen, it’s great that we can come together here today in the Paulaner tent,” said women's director Bianca Rech about the visit to the Oktoberfest.
For new signings Magou Doucouré, Ena Mahmutovic, Lena Oberdorf and Julia Zigiotti in particular, it was a great opportunity to get to know their teammates and Bavarian culture. Giulia Gwinn was also delighted with the traditional visit: “It's one of the best team-building activities when you’re out and about together off the pitch.”
