Rech: 'A constant source of inspiration'
Bianca Rech, director of women's footbal at FC Bayern: "It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Doris Fitschen, a valued team-mate and an outstanding role model. Her dedication, professionalism and tireless commitment on and off the pitch were a constant source of inspiration for us all."

From 2009 to 2016, she was general manager of the women's national team, who became European champions twice and Olympic champions in 2016 during her tenure.
From 1986 to 2001, Fitschen played 144 times for Germany. In 1989, she won her first international title with the national side at the European Championship in Germany. Many other successes followed: Fitschen went on to become European champion four times and won the bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. She also celebrated great successes with her clubs, winning two league titles with TSV Siegen and the DFB Cup once. With 1. FFC Frankfurt, she won the double of league and cup in 1999 and the DFB Cup again a year later.
Rest in peace, Doris.
