FC Bayern Women players Alara Şehitler and Linda Sembrant are almost 20 years apart in age. On International Women's Day on 8 March, the two footballers look back on the beginnings of their careers and the development of women's football in a generational comparison. “Back then, we didn't have the support we have today,” says Sembrant, who made her debut when her young teammate wasn't even born yet. Teenager Şehitler sees great progress compared to back then. “The challenges are still there and it's sometimes difficult to juggle school and sport. But overall, the support from coaches, teachers and staff is much better these days,” summarises the 18-year-old. “The development in women's football has progressed rapidly, and what we have now is great. I think it will continue like this,” Sembrant added.
