FC Bayern Women’s strong record against Wolfsburg and clean sheet run

A look at the table shows how even it is at the summit. Both teams have amassed 13 points and have a +13 goal difference from their five games. Wolfsburg are only ahead by virtue of their 20 goals scored, of which former Bayern forward Lineth Beerensteyn is the top scorer across the two teams with four goals. However, the division’s top attack now faces the meanest defence. Ena Mahmutovic has yet to be breached across the five games. Bayern also have the lowest xGA in the division, with opponents only expected to score 1.4 goals per game.

Impressive recent record

Bayern have won four of the last five Bundesliga meetings with Wolfsburg. The other result was a defeat in the first encounter of last season, going down 2-0 in Wolfsburg a year ago. That was also the last Bundesliga loss for the domestic double winners.

Conversely, the She-Wolves’ last defeat came at the hands of Bayern, being beaten 3-1 at the Campus as the Munich Frauen took an important step towards retaining the title thanks to a brace from Pernille Harder and another goal from Lea Schüller. The most recent competitive fixture was August’s Supercup, which Bayern won 4-2 in Karlsruhe to lift the first silverware of 2025/26.

Georgia Stanway goes into the game in excellent form having provided four assists across Bayern’s last two Bundesliga fixtures against Freiburg and Werder Bremen. That’s the same number as in her previous 24 league outings combined and already equals her personal best for assists from the 2023/24 season.

Klara Bühl has also proven herself to be an excellent provider for her teammates. No other player in the Bundesliga has set up as many shots this season as the Germany international (27), followed by Wolfsburg’s Svenja Huth back on 17.

Bayern’s pressing game

A key element of Bayern’s play this season has been their aggressive pressing. They lead the division with 81 high turnovers of possession and by winning the ball back on average 50.1 metres from their own goal. No other team breaks up their opponents’ play inside the opposition half as consistently as José Barcala’s side. Next in both those regards but still some way off are Wolfsburg with 65 high turnovers and an average pressing height of 47.5 metres.

FC Bayern Women will host Arsenal at the Allianz Arena in November:
