Vanessa Gilles is Canada Soccer women’s Player of the Year 2025. It’s the second time after 2024 that the 29-year-old centre-back has been honoured with this special accolade, which has been awarded annually since 1994 and recognises achievements for both the club and national team. Gilles has impressed this year with her tackling strength, reading of the game and leadership qualities – both for FC Bayern Women, who she’s played for since the start of this season, and the Canadian national side. Gilles stands alongside some big names in the list of winners, including Canada’s most-capped international Christine Sinclair, who won the award 14 times.
Congratulations on your second title, Vanessa!
