Bianca Rech, director of women’s football at FC Bayern: “We’re very happy that Kathi will be staying with us into the future. She brings a quality that is very important for us and that we’ll also need in the coming years. Kathi is left-footed, possesses a lot of pace and can play offensively and defensively, which makes her versatile. On top of that, she’s a very down-to-earth, approachable and genuine character. Austrians have a great tradition at FC Bayern Munich and just fit extremely well into the team and our culture.”

Katharina Naschenweng: “I'm very happy that I was able to extend my contract. The entire club, the environment and everything offered here convinced me to stay for more years. I've experienced many wonderful moments here, like my first championship, but also difficult times due to injuries, during which the club provided invaluable support. The team and the entire staff are simply fantastic – you immediately feel at home and are welcomed right away. Munich has quickly become a home for me; it's very similar to where I came from. I'm looking forward to achieving much more with the team in the Champions League, the league and the cup in the coming years.”

Great successes with FCB

Naschenweng moved to FC Bayern Women from TSG Hoffenheim in summer 2023. The full-back quickly became a key member of the team in her first season and played a central role in winning the Bundesliga title in 2024. After a cruciate ligament operation ruled her out for the whole of the 2024/25 campaign, the 28-year-old fought back with great determination and made her comeback in Leipzig on Matchday 2 of this season. She’s made 39 competitive appearances for the Munich club to date, scoring three goals.

Naschenweng has also been part of the Austrian senior national team since 2016. At the European Championship in 2017, the Spittal an der Drau-born wide player reached the semi-finals with her home country, who were agonisingly beaten by Denmark.
