Stine Ballisager extends contract with FC Bayern Women

FC Bayern Women have agreed a contract extension with centre-back Stine Ballisager through to 30 June 2028. The Dane’s current deal was due to expire in summer 2027. Ballisager moved to Munich from Fiorentina last summer and has since made 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. The 32-year-old won the Supercup with the double winners at the start of the season and is also in the team’s first Champions League semi-final in five years.

Rech: ‘Become an important pillar of our squad’

Looking forward to the future in Munich: Bianca Rech, Stine Ballisager & Francisco De Sá Fardilha.

Bianca Rech, director of women’s football at FC Bayern: “We’re very happy that Stine has extended her contract at FC Bayern. She’s settled in brilliantly since the start of the season, completely fulfillfed our expectations and become an important pillar of our squad in a short space of time. With her experience from different leagues and countries, she exudes a tremendous calmness and makes very clever decisions on the pitch. Stine is a real team player, who always devotes herself to the team and models a professional attitude. That makes us all the more pleased that she’s staying with us in the coming years and can help to shape our future.”

Stine Ballisager: “I’m delighted to have extended my contract at FC Bayern early. I’ve felt at home here from the beginning – the teammates, staff and everyone in the club made it very easy for me. We’re an extremely ambitious team with high standards, and it’s just nice to work in this environment. So for me, it just made sense to extend. I see huge potential here – both for us as a team but also for me personally. We want to play for titles, win the league and the cup, and get as far as possible in the Champions League. I want to do what I can and continue to help the team in the future.”

Experience at national and international level

Ballisager began her football career at hometown club Vellev, before joining Viborg. Spells at Skovbakken IK and VSK Aarhus followed before she moved to Vålerenga in Norway in 2018. She won the league title with the Oslo club in 2020 as well as the domestic cup in 2020 and 2021. From 2023 to the end of 2024, the Dane was under contract at Kansas City Current in the USA. At the start of the following year, she moved to Italian top-flight side Fiorentina, before ending up at Bayern last summer. Denmark’s 2022 Women’s Footballer of the Year also offers plenty of experience at international level. She’s represented her home country since 2009 and was part of the senior team that finished second at the 2017 European Championship.
