After seven years in the FC Bayern Women jersey, Mala Grohs will leave the Munich club at the end of this season. The goalkeeper joined FCB from VfL Bochum in 2019 and has so far celebrated five Bundesliga titles with the double winners, as well as the DFB Cup in 2025 and two successes in the Supercup.
The 24-year-old will be given an official send-off at the last Bundesliga home match of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon.
Rech: ‘Wish Mala all the very best for the future’
Bianca Rech, director of women’s football at FC Bayern: “Mala came to us at a young age from Bochum in 2019 and worked her way up to the first team with great determination and discipline, becoming our number one. To date she’s won five league titles, one DFB Cup and two Supercups and has played a pivotal role in many of our team’s special moments. At the same time, she’s been a central personality in the whole group with her warm-hearted character. Her serious illness greatly affected us all, yet Mala kept going with impressive strength, courage and positivity, setting an example to many people. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts for her service to FC Bayern and wish her all the very best for the future. Until then, we’ll make our time left together as successful as possible.”
Grohs: ‘Can look ahead in good health and look back with pride and gratitude’
Mala Grohs: “FC Bayern has become a home for me. The team and the Campus, with all the familiar faces, are a place where I always feel welcome. When I look back on my seven years here, I think of countless little moments in the dressing room, our title wins and my first steps in professional football. The path wasn’t always a straight one; it demanded everything from me at various points and, in return, gave me so much more at others. Now I can look ahead in good health and look back with pride and gratitude. The hardest part for me is leaving behind the girls, you fans and this special atmosphere surrounding the team – the warm glances and the joy in your eyes. I hope that this special feeling I have here in Munich will never fade, and that I will continue to feel at home and welcome. In the coming days, I’ll say goodbye to everyone and hope that we finish the season with the double. I’m already looking forward to coming back to visit.”
