FC Bayern Women’s opponents in the DFB Cup round of 16 are confirmed! Following the victory at Borussia Mönchengladbach in the first round, the holders will host Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the last 16. The draw was made by DFB vice-president for equality and diversity, Celia Šašić, together with former Switzerland international Rachel Rinast following Sunday’s first-round ties.
The last-16 fixtures will be played between 31 October and 2 November.
The draw in full:

1. FSV Mainz 05 vs. SV Werder Bremen
VfL Wolfsburg vs. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim
FC Bayern Munich vs. Bayer 04 Leverkusen
VfB Stuttgart vs. SGS Essen
1. FC Köln vs. RB Leipzig
SC Freiburg vs. FC Carl Zeiss Jena
Hamburger SV vs. 1. FC Union Berlin
1. FC Nürnberg vs. Eintracht Frankfurt
Leverkusen fifth in Bundesliga last season
The draw pits Bayern against one of the strongest teams in the Bundesliga in the second round. While the head-to-head record is clearly in the cup holders’ favour with 27 wins, one draw and just three defeats, recent encounters with the Werkself have proven that they are not to be underestimated. In the last meeting just two weeks ago, Bayer took the lead twice but – as was the case two years earlier – were eventually defeated by an Alara winner in stoppage time.
