For much of the night at the Estádio da Luz, FC Bayern Women's patience was severely tested. Benfica defended passionately, and the Munich side rarely managed to find a way through the tightly organised defence. But the game turned in the closing stages: Klara Bühl broke the deadlock with a powerful finish from distance, and Pernille Harder added a second shortly afterwards, crowning the evening with her 50th Champions League goal. When Franziska Kett made it 3–0 in the 88th minute, it wrapped up the first win of the season nicely – a late, hard-fought victory that was all the more valuable for it.
