Second win in second friendly for Bayern Women

FC Bayern Women won their second friendly of pre-season. In a behind-closed-doors game at the FC Bayern Campus on Wednesday evening, head coach Alex Straus' side won 3-0 against second-tier side FC Ingolstadt 04. Caro Simon's free kick put the hosts in front in the 23rd minute, before Alara Şehitler doubled the lead shortly after. Jovana Damnjanović made it 3-0 in the 68th minute from Pernille Harder's assist.

Kett and Zawistowska back in action

While Lea Schüller, Giulia Gwinn, Klara Bühl and Sydney Lohmann are gearing up for the bronze medal match at the Olympics in Paris with the German national team, FCB Women concentrated on the friendly against Ingolstadt. Franziska Kett and Weronika Zawistowska both returned to the squad after their injuries and came on in the second half.

Commanding first half

Like the first friendly against FC St. Gallen, Bayern lived up to their role as favourites and laid siege to the Ingolstadt goal from the start. After two big chances inside the first 10 minutes, the Munich girls had to wait until the 23rd minute for the deserved lead, when Simon buried a free kick from a central position on the edge of the box into the left corner. Six minutes later, Şehitler made it 2-0, steering Tuva Hansen's cross into the net with her chest. The visitors didn't create any notable chances in the first 45 minutes, and so it remained 2-0 at the break.

Same story in second half

The German champions began the second period with further chances. In the 49th minute, a shot from Harder was scrambled off the line. Despite high pressure, it wasn't until the 68th minute that the third goal arrived. Again it was Harder, who this time threaded the ball through to Damnjanović, and the number 9 placed it into the bottom right corner. With no response from the visitors, it ended in a comfortable 3-0 victory for FCB Women.
