FC Bayern Women held at home by Carl Zeiss Jena

FC Bayern Women were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Carl Zeiss Jena on the opening day of the 2025 Oktoberfest. The Munich Frauen had the bulk of the chances in front of president Herbert Hainer at the Campus, but the defending champions were unable to find a way through.

Goalless first half

The hosts had their first chance of note after a quarter of an hour when Lena Oberdorf headed a Klara Bühl corner just wide. Alara fired over from around 20 before popping up in the box to get on the end of an Oberdorf ball in from the left but put her effort wide. Pernille Harder came closest when she struck the frame of the goal from inside the area.

Glut of chances

Bayern remained the team in command after the restart, but neither Harder nor substitute Vanessa Gilles could make their headed opportunities count. The champions upped the pressure with every passing minute and brought on reinforcements in Georgia Stanway, Momoko Tanikawa and Lea Schüller. They were immediately into the action, with Schüller striking the crossbar from a Tanikawa cross. Bayern threw everything forward against the deep Jena defence in the closing minutes but were unable to find a way through and dropped points for the first time this season.
