The first test of the year for FC Bayern Women! At their training camp in Spain, head coach Alexander Straus’ side will take on Swiss top-flight outfit BSC YB Women on Wednesday 22 January at 15:00 CET.
Acid test before season resumes
FCB Women have been preparing hard for the Rückrunde at the training camp in Spain since Friday. This Wednesday, their first and only friendly of the winter break is on the schedule. The Munich girls will be hoping for a good performance to take into the second half of the campaign, in which they’re still in all three competitions.
The opponents: BSC YB Women
YB Women have also been back in training for around two weeks now in preparation for the second half of the Women’s Super League season. Coach Imke Wübbenhorst’s side occupy fourth place, six points behind leaders Servette FC Chênois. The Bern club have already played one friendly, beating Austrian side SCR Altach 3-0 last Sunday.
Straus: 'Create foundation for successful Rückrunde'
In the many training sessions, tactics talks and conversations, Bayern Women are preparing thoroughly for their return to competitive action. Their time together at the camp in Spain is helping the team to keep improving and go into the second half of the season strengthened. "We want to create the foundation for a successful Rückrunde, on the pitch but also in the many conversations," said Straus. The German champions will be looking to implement the content from training in the friendly against YB Women and gain confidence for the next stage of the season.
